St. George is located within the northern end of the Mojave Desert at 2,860 feet above sea level and the average annual temperature is approximately 61°. St. George's climate is an attraction in its own right. It has become a green oasis in the desert, and the combination of the warm, dry winter climate and natural beauty of the setting draws both new residents and tourists to the area. With hot summers and extremely mild winters, St. George is also known as a winter haven for what the 50,000 locals like to call "Snow Birds".
