In 2008, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc., in partnership with Edge Resorts, will open W Las Vegas, offering a mix of hotel, condo-hotel and residential units. The project will be located at Harmon Avenue and Koval Place, less than one-half mile from the Strip. This property is to be a featured destination within the newly developing Harmon Corridor, anchored by the Hard Rock Hotel and the Palms. The W Las Vegas will have the classy, signature comforts that the W is know for, including remarkable architecture, multiple restaurants, nightlife, a casino and a destination spa. There will be approximately 3000 hotel and residential units, at least ten restaurants, world class retail space, a 75,000 sq foot casino, Bliss Spa & Gym and 300,000 sq feet of meeting space. The condo hotel units will include studios and one bedroom units which can be combined to form two bedroom residences. These fully furnished units, with contemporary interiors, will resemble the hotel guestrooms, however will also offer a wide array of residential amenities such as ample closet space, oversized showers, electronically controlled sheers and drapes, along with media-style audio visual technology. All units will contain at least one king or two queen-sized beds, bathrooms with four or five fixtures and flat panel TVs built into the vanity mirror. The rooms are also expected to feature a sitting area with a pullout sofa, a dining area, over-sized desk, multiple dual-line phones, large flat panel LCD or Plasma TVs and printer/fax/scanner combinations. Plans also call for both wireless and wired high-speed internet access. The ultra-luxury bungalows are expected to range from one to four bedrooms, with one to four bathrooms, including extensive living areas, media rooms, private plunge pools, private Jacuzzis, private salons, massage areas, heated spas and personal gyms. Owners will have full use of the property’s facilities and amenities, as well as access to maid service, 24 hour room service and concierge services. The W Las Vegas will feature an expansive pool deck, with several individual pools spread out over a number of levels, along with numerous outdoor bars, bungalows and private cabanas. A portion of the pool area is intended to serve as an entertainment venue hosting concerts and parties. Other amenities include a theater/showroom, a unique mixture of world-class retail, restaurants, lounges and nightclubs, including an indoor/outdoor lounge. Plans call for the casino to be situated adjacent to the hotel lobby. The gaming facilities will have an intimate and stylish setting with table games, slot machines, baccarat salon, high limits slots room, a race and sports book room and a poker room. The expansive conference space will allow the project to effectively complete in the highly profitable meeting and convention business in Las Vegas.
